2010 Pokemon World Championship

he 2010 Pokémon TCG World Championships is THE Premier Event of the year! Only players who receive invitations via their National Championships, Premier Rating, or performance at the 2009 World Championships are permitted to play in this event. Additionally, top-ranked players in the Last Chance Qualifier will receive an invitation to participate in the 2010 World Championships. The event will host top players from around the world competing for the title of Pokémon TCG World Champion and for scholarships worth up to $7,500.

The Pokémon TCG World Championships will be held on August 14th & 15th, 2010 at the Hilton Waikoloa Village, located at 69-42 Waikoloa Beach Drive, Waikoloa, Hawaii.
Earning an Invitation to Worlds

Pokémon Organized Play will be awarding invitations to the 2010 Pokémon TCG World Championships in a number of ways. The list below breaks down how invitations will be distributed over the course of the 2009–2010 tournament season.

Invitations without POP-sponsored Travel Awards will be given to:

* The 2010 National Champion in each age division for the countries listed below
Argentina
Slovenia Malta

* All other qualifying players from the 2010 National Championships in each age division, as defined in the table above
* Players qualifying through the 2009–2010 Premier Ratings
* Players qualifying through the 2010 Last Chance Qualifier

Players outside of North America are encouraged to ask their local Organized Play providers if they will be sponsoring Travel Awards for qualified players who did not receive a POP-sponsored Travel Award.
* Premier Ratings Invitations

Premier Rating invitations will be awarded without pass downs beginning in 2010. This means that players who earn an invitation via a National Championships or who are not opted in to Ratings and Rankings will take one of the invitation slots awarded regardless of their eligibility to collect the invitation.

Pokémon Organized Play has analyzed the Ratings invitations for the past several seasons and increased the number of Ratings invitations per Rating Zone to minimize any negative effect on players. We anticipate that approximately the same total number of eligible invitations will be awarded. This will however, greatly reduce the amount of time it takes to process this invite list, meaning that players who earn, and are eligible to collect an invitation will be notified much earlier, allowing players more time to book and confirm their attendance.
